The agent of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has been speaking about his client’s future in a recent interview.
Said comments, of course, come after what has been a fairly terrible 2021/22 campaign by Lukaku’s usually lofty standards.
However, despite being something of a bit-part player for the Blues, Lukaku is still the club’s top scorer in all competitions, netting 15 from 45, two more than both Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.
Chelsea saw a similar situation last term as well, with Tammy Abraham frozen out by Tuchel yet remaining the club’s top scorer in all competitions.
Abraham has since left Chelsea and is excelling in the Serie A with AS Roma. As a result, as long as Tuchel remains in charge, it looks as though a move away from west London could benefit Lukaku.
And his agent suggested recently that they will meet with Chelsea to discuss Lukaku’s future:
“I’m not the one to discuss technical choices, but it is obvious that there was a problem,” Federico Pastorello said. “The numbers, however, must be weighted: he is the best scorer of the team this season, even with a lower playing time compared to his teammates.
“The situation must be carefully evaluated, now there’s a Champions League spot to secure, and the Fa Cup final: Romelu is totally focused on that, we have not talked about anything else”.
“It’s nonsense to speculate on negotiations: Chelsea have just defined the takeover of the club, we still don’t know our new interlocutors, let alone if we can hypothesize talks with Inter, AC Milan or whatever. We have to be patient and wait. ”
