Martin Odegaard has made a promise to Arsenal fans ahead of the Gunners’ next outing.
Arsenal will take on Newcastle United on Monday evening in what is their penultimate game of the 2021/22 campaign.
The tie is a must-win for Mikel Arteta’s side, whose Champions League hopes are now hanging by a thread.
Ahead of the game, Martin Odegaard has promised Arsenal fans that they will go to Newcastle play a good game and try to win:
“We’ve got having everything in our own hands – win the last two games, that’s it for us,” the 23-year-old said. “That is the only focus now.
“We don’t feel the pressure. We are going to go to Newcastle (on Monday evening) and play a good game, and try to win.”
Newcastle United vs Arsenal
Arsenal head into the game knowing nothing but a win is good enough after their disastrous north London derby display earlier this week.
The Gunners faced off with Tottenham on Thursday aware a win would have seen them clinch a Champions League spot for the first time since 2017.
However, Arsenal would lose the game 3-0 whilst also seeing Rob Holding sent off and Gabriel pick up an injury.
As a result, Arsenal are now just one point above Spurs with two games to play. Antonio Conte’s side also have a much, much better goal difference than their north London rivals.
And with Arsenal set to have, at the bare minimum, three senior players missing vs Newcastle, Tottenham likely fancy their chances of creeping into the top four before the campaign ends.
The Lilywhites’ next game will see them face off with Burnley at 12 pm on Sunday.
