Mikel Arteta has responded to comments made by Tottenham boss Antonio Conte after the latest north London derby.
Arsenal and Tottenham faced off this past Thursday, with Arsenal seeing a man sent off before going on to lose 3-0 to their bitter rivals.
After the game, Antonio Conte hit out at Arteta for the amount of complaining he does:
“He complains a lot,” he said of Arteta.
“He has to focus more on his team. He has to focus more on his work. He has to continue to work because he’s a very good [coach]. To hear someone complain all the time is not so good.
“At Liverpool [last Saturday] do you hear me complain about Fabinho and all the fouls? No. He can take my advice if he wants, but if not I don’t care.
“I listen and he complains a lot. I think that he has to be more focussed on his team and not to complain because he has just started his work. He has to be calm and try to continue to work. To listen to a coach complain a lot of the time is not good.”
Arteta has since responded to the comments. But, when asked about them ahead of facing Newcastle, he had little to say:
“I am fully focused on Newcastle,” the Spaniard stated.
Newcastle United vs Arsenal
Arsenal will face Newcastle United on Monday evening at St James’ Park.
Arsenal head into the game knowing nothing but a win is good enough after their disastrous north London derby display earlier this week.
And with Arsenal set to have, at the bare minimum, three senior players missing vs Newcastle, Tottenham likely fancy their chances of creeping into the top four before the campaign ends.
