Another summer, another Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Manchester United rumour.
The Serbian has been linked with Manchester United for what feels like a decade and, as we head towards the 2022 summer window, he is once again being touted for a switch to the Premier League.
Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is the current Lazio manager and he has been speaking about what the future holds for Milinkovic-Savic recently.
And it is good news for any potential suitors outside of Italy, with Sarri claiming that if the midfielder does leave Lazio, he will move outside of Italy, of course opening the door to a United switch:
“Speaking to the President, I have become convinced that if Milinkovic does leave, and that will not happen easily, he will not remain in Italy,” Sarri said.
SMS, meanwhile, has been full of praise for Sarri and how he has improved his game:
“I improved under Sarri, I scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists, so I can say this has been the best season of my career. Next season, we need a few more players so we can aim for the Champions League places,” the midfielder stated.
It is easy to see why Manchester United may wish to sign Milinkovic-Savic. United are in desperate need of some fresh legs in central midfield, especially now Nemanja Matic is leaving for free next month.
And the 27-year-old could be exactly what the Red Devils require, with SMS solid defensively but also very cable going forward, as shown by his 11 goals and 11 assists in 36 Serie A games this term.
