England international goalkeeper Dean Henderson could be in line for a change of scenery this summer after the Manchester United number two has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the upcoming transfer window.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper is firmly rooted in his backup role at Man United behind David De Gea, who has been one of the old Red Devils players that can hold their head high regarding the poor performance by the club on all fronts in 2021-22, and due to that, Henderson could be in line for a loan move in search of first-choice minutes elsewhere.
According to reports in the Telegraph as well as other outlets, Henderson is more likely to leave in the summer on an initial loan move and upstarts Newcastle is one of the clubs that are currently tabling an interest in the national team keeper.

One potential reason why Henderson may only be able to secure an initial move on a loan basis comes down to the large wage packet he has at United, which currently stands at £110,000-a-week despite being number two behind De Gea.
Additionally, it was reported that any full deal for Henderson could cost at least £30million to any potential suitor, which is a sizable fee for a keeper who – while a full international – is still a backup option at his current employer.
But Newcastle could be just the destination for Henderson as the Magpies remain on the hunt for a first-choice keeper to upgrade on current options at the club; Martin Dúbravka, Karl Darlow, and Marik Gillespie.
None of the current keepers are near the standard of shot-stopper that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe can rely on if he is to continue to push toward the club’s remit of challenging the upper echelons of the Premier League, but Newcastle is said to only be able to spend roughly £80million this summer without sales, which means taking a chunk of that total could dampen their ability to address other issues in the first team.
Still, an upgrade in goal could go a long way to building the right core under Howe n Tyneside that can look to make incremental gains over the improvement seen since his arrival this season.
