Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Andreas Christensen withdrew from the FA Cup final squad at the last minute and that he is ‘not sure’ whether the Danish defender will play any part in their final two clashes with Leicester City and Watford.
The defender was supposed to play a part in the FA Cup final with Liverpool, that the Blues eventually lost on penalties, but withdrew on the day, leaving Trevoh Chalobah to take his place.
And, speaking about it before his side’s clash with Leicester City, Tuchel would understandably not open up further on the situation, revealing that ‘he had his reasons’, but that ‘they stay private and confidential.’
‘But’, he added, ‘it was not the first time as you can see over the last weeks we had some of the same situations why he did not play so regularly.’
“We thought that we are in a good progression and good development because he played very strong in the match before the final against Leeds.
‘But the conversation took place and we have to respect it and we of course respected it and he has our support.’
And, the German went on to reveal that the issue had occurred on multiple occasions this campaign.
‘It was very short notice before the cup final, and not only this match, other matches in the other weeks’, he added.
Has Christensen played his last game?
Should the Dane not be able to take part in the next two games, he will have played his last game for the club, with the defender set to join Barcelona come the end of the season.
It could be part of a mass exodus too, with Antonio Rudiger joining Real Madrid and both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso both strongly linked with moves to Barcelona this summer too.

Should Christensen not be able to play any further part, it will be a sad end to a promising career in west London.
