Supporters of Arsenal and Liverpool alike have taken to social media in their droves on Saturday, to reveal their frustrations with the voting for the latest round of individual Premier League season awards.
For those not aware, the winners of both the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in the English top-flight were unveiled earlier today.
And both prizes went to members of Pep Guardiola’s table-topping Manchester City squad.
First up came Kevin De Bruyne, who, for the 2nd time in the space of three years, was named as the Premier League’s standout performer:

Next came the unveiling of the Young Player of the Year.
And a familiar face was too crowned as the Premier League’s best U23 performer, as City’s Phil Foden walked away with the award for the 2nd successive campaign:

‘Robbed’
As alluded to above, however, evidently all were not in agreement with the validity of the eventual landing spots of the POTY and YPOTY accolades alike.
Particularly keen to make their frustrations known on the back of the news regarding De Bruyne and Foden being made official were those of a Liverpool and Arsenal persuasion.
This comes amid widespread claims that Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka would have been far more deserved recipients, with just some of the backlash from across social media showcased below:
How can Salah be the Premier League top scorer and top assist provider yet not win POTS? 😭 these individual awards are not serious man

WHERE THE F*CK IS DE BRUYNE???? SALAH ROBBED!!!!!!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/9YhRdTokW6

Kevin De Bruyne is absolutely world-class but this is pure recency bias.
Mo Salah hasn’t even been in top form for months but he’s still managed 22 goals and 13 assists in 34 games so far… getting more goal contributions than games played says it all. 😂 https://t.co/7dZbWDOgPA

De Bruyne is a standout but he d¤esn’t deserve to be awarded the EPL Player of the Season; Mo Salah outclassed him in all categories, & Son (Tottenham) also topped De Bruyne’s performance literally, so it’s ridicul¤us that neither Salah nor Son won it. This reeks of favorit!sm.

So Bukayo Saka got nominated for Premier League Player of the season, while Foden didn’t. Foden gets PL young player of the season.
Make it more sense.

Phil Foden is a great player, but seeing him being named Young Player of the Season sums up the problem with modern-day awards. A popularity contest. Nothing more, nothing less. Trent, Saka, Rice & Mount would all have been more worthy winners.

Saka robbed 😔😔
Admittedly Foden has been class but with only 23 starts itl, it feels a bit unjustified https://t.co/FPdSXn6LIu

Bukayo Saka has more goals than Trent and Phil Foden combined this season, he’s our young player of the season. Thanks 😫 #AFC 🔴⚪ pic.twitter.com/aV5JKXFM5k

Bukayo Saka has scored in a big-six game involving Manchester City more recently than Phil Foden has.
