AC Milan held their nerve on Sunday evening, to retake their place at the very summit of the Italian football pyramid for the first time in over a decade.
The Rossoneri marked their return to action a short time ago.
In the knowledge that they need only better the result secured by city rivals Inter at home to Sampdoria, Stefano Pioli’s troops made the trip to the Mapei Stadium, for a final day meeting with Sassuolo.
The Neroverdi had long represented something of a bogey opponent for Milan, meaning hearts were no doubt in mouths across the club’s fanbase ahead of the action getting underway on Sunday evening.
When all was said and done in Reggio Emilia, however, any such fears were put swiftly to bed, courtesy of one of the performances of the season in Italy’s top-flight.
Inside 35 minutes, Milan had all but sewn up the Scudetto, after racing out to a 3-goal lead courtesy of an Olivier Giroud double, and further finish on the part of Barcelona-bound Franck Kessie.
In truth, though, it was Rafael Leao who proved the star of the show, bagging all three assists for the rampant visitors.

‘Campioni!’
