A photo, showcasing the exact moment that Mohamed Salah and Liverpool’s stars discovered that their title aspirations had gone up in smoke, has surfaced online.
It of course proved a day of heartbreak on the red half of the Merseyside divide on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s troops marked their return to action a little over 24 hours ago, welcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield as part of the final round of fixtures of the Premier League campaign.
The Reds headed into proceedings in the knowledge that the club’s title hopes were essentially out of their hands, with Manchester City sitting a point clear at the division’s summit, ahead of closing out their own season at home to Aston Villa.
Amid chaotic scenes across the Premier League landscape, though, late in the action, Liverpool’s title dream remained alive and well.
This came as Klopp’s outfit recovered from a goal down to surge out to a 3-1 advantage owing to strikes from all of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.

The trouble for the Merseysiders, though, was that this came with Man City having also been in the process of staging a stunning comeback of their own.
After slipping into a shock 2-0 deficit at the hands of Villa, the Sky Blues, in the space of a little over five minutes, came roaring back to take the lead courtesy of Ilkay Gundogan’s double either side of a strike from Rodri.

Elation to despair
And now, as alluded to above, evidence of the exact moment in which Salah – of the mind that he had just put Liverpool in the driver’s seat in the title race – saw his celebrations brought to a swift end, has come to the fore.
The evidence in question comes by means of a series of photos, in which the Egyptian, alongside the rest of Klopp’s stars, spot a number of supporters in the Anfield crowd with three fingers raised on one hand, alongside two on the other.
This, of course, was to signify the fact that Manchester City had taken a 3-2 lead, rendering Liverpool’s advantage meaningless.
Salah, in turn, can be seen looking altogether forlorn, robbed of his ‘Aguero moment’:
