You know a transfer window is upon us when you start to read that ‘club X’ will be given a ‘war chest’.
And in this case, it looks to be Chelsea who are allegedly set to benefit from a war chest this summer.
According to the Telegraph, Todd Boehly is ready to hand Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel £200m to spend this summer after his takeover was finally sealed by the Government, the Premier League and Europe.
It is added that the deal to sell the club was finally resolved shortly after 7 am on Wednesday and Roman Abramovich was told he will now receive the approval licence he needs from the UK. Portugal and the European Commission are expected to confirm the deal this morning, having signalled to the UK that they are happy.
A Government spokesperson said: “Following extensive work, we are now satisfied that the full proceeds of the sale will not benefit Roman Abramovich or any other sanctioned individual. We will now begin the process of ensuring the proceeds of the sale are used for humanitarian causes in Ukraine, supporting victims of the war.”

Where do Chelsea need to improve?
With the takeover now wrapped up and the new owners seemingly keen to spend big this summer, the question now becomes where do Chelsea need to improve?
The obvious area is at centre-back, with one or two new faces needed after Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen departed on frees.
Elsewhere, a new central midfielder may be needed, though Chelsea could also look to give Conor Gallagher a run in the side after a successful spell with Crystal Palace.
