Newcastle United have, on Friday, been tipped to launch an offensive for Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby.
The coming summer window, of course, is expected to see the transfer team at St. James’ Park prioritise fresh blood in the attacking third.
Amid Callum Wilson’s long-standing injury woes, and the lack of production on the part of Miguel Almiron, the Magpies are understood to have set their sights on additions both out wide and through the middle.
And one such option sitting high up the wishlist of the Geordie outfit, as alluded to above, is understood to be Moussa Diaby.
The 22-year-old has long been regarded as one of the Bundesliga’s finest up-and-coming talents, with his head-turning haul of 17 goals and 14 assists across all competitions this past season having only seen interest in his services continue to mount.
Newcastle, in turn, are ready to do whatever it takes to beat out the competition, and seal a deal for the Bayer Leverkusen standout over the weeks ahead.
Contact has already been initiated between the respective boards at St. James’ and the BayArena, with some outlets having gone as far as to suggest that the former could be willing to break the club’s transfer record to push a deal over the line.

Carlos joins Villa
Word of the club’s alleged interest in Diaby of course comes with Newcastle still smarting on the back of missing out on another key summer target a little over 24 hours ago.
After expressing a keen interest in his signature throughout the January transfer window, reports had begun to mount across the week that the Magpies were ready to reignite their pursuit of Sevilla star Diego Carlos ahead of next season.
In turn, it no doubt came as a blow to all associated with the club when, on Thursday, Premier League rivals Aston Villa confirmed that they had struck a deal to take Carlos to Villa Park for a fee in the region of £26 million.
