Henrikh Mkhitaryan has come to the decision to depart AS Roma for a direct Serie A rival, according to widespread reports.
Speculation surrounding the future of midfielder Mkhitaryan, of course, has been rampant across the Italian media for several months now.
This comes with the Armenian international having opted against putting pen to paper on fresh terms at the Stadio Olimpico, ahead of the expiration of his contract in the summer.
Jose Mourinho and co, for their part, are understood to have been keen to tie ‘Mkhi’ down to a new deal, with the 33-year-old having played a key role in both the club’s Serie A campaign, and eventual triumph in the Europa Conference League.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then such efforts on the part of the Giallorossi look set to come up short.
This comes with Mkhitaryan primed for an imminent departure from the Italian capital ahead of next season.
The attack-minded midfielder’s upcoming landing spot? Inter Milan.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, among others, Mkhitaryan has come to the decision to link up with Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri on a free transfer.
The call is understood to have been based on the former Arsenal man’s desire to return to the grandest stage of European football, the Champions League.
Mkhi, in turn, is primed to put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the San Siro over the coming weeks.
