Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe has piqued attentions online on Friday evening, after finding the net in style on the international stage.
ESR, on the back of something of a disappointing close to the campaign in north London, saw his hopes of retaining a spot in Gareth Southgate’s senior England setup heavily dented.
In turn, it came as little surprise when the gifted young midfielder was instead selected to take his place with the nation’s ‘Young Lions’, for their latest round of European Championship qualifiers.
Lee Carsley’s troops marked their return to action with a trip to the Stadio Střelecký ostrov to face the Czech Republic this evening, aware that a victory would see them all but guaranteed of qualification owing to a record of six wins and a draw from seven outings.
And, as things stand, all three points is precisely what England are headed towards.
Late in the action on Friday, the visitors are in possession of a two-goal advantage, owing to strikes on the part of Jacob Ramsey and the aforementioned Smith Rowe.
And the former’s finish has since turned the head of many a fan, particularly of an Arsenal persuasion.
This comes with Smith Rowe, who saw his goalscoring touch somewhat desert him over the course of the 2nd half of the campaign, having rifled a wonderful strike into the top corner of the Czechs’ net:
