Jules Koundé is one step away from joining Chelsea, according to Diario AS.
The move is now just “a matter of time” and waiting for Sevilla to sign a replacement.
The Blues are expected to pay between €60 million and €65 million.
Koundé to Chelsea: Sevilla’s search for replacement holding up deal
Currently, the Spanish club are still searching for a replacement for Diego Carlos.
They have already lost one central defender this window with the Brazilian joining Aston Villa.
Monchi, Sevilla’s sporting director, is moving as quickly as possible to secure replacements for both Carlos and Koundé.
Duje Ćaleta-Car is a player they want and know Marseille’s valuation will drop over the next few weeks with the player soon out of contract.
Karim Rekik and Nemanja Gudelj are also being targeted as they look to bring in a second centre-back.
Chelsea contact Ousmane Dembele
Meanwhile, the Blues are also working on a deal to sign Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer.
As per football.london’s Adam Newson, Chelsea have made contact with the player’s agent.
Although, as of yet, no agreement has been found between the two parties.
