Tottenham’s pursuit of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni appears to be all but over for now as the Italian’s defender has confirmed that he will be remaining at San Siro this summer despite speculation suggesting otherwise.
Having won Serie A under current Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, there was optimism in north London that a deal could be reached for the 23 year old, who would have slotted in at left-centre-back for the lilywhites with ease.
And, even with Inter needing to sell players this summer, it seems as though Bastoni will not be one of them, unless something drastically changes between now and the transfer deadline in September.
Speaking after meetings with Inter officials, Bastoni’s agent Tinti told the media that his client will remain at the San Siro this summer.
‘Bastoni will stay at Inter for sure. He has a contract and he’s happy with Inter – there’s no problem’, he revealed.

Who else could Tottenham target?
Two names have emerged as left-centre back targets this summer for a host of clubs, in the form of RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Villareal centre-back Pau Torres.
Reports have suggested that Torres could be an easier deal to do, with discussions having taken place with Unai Emery’s star man while negotiating a potential sale of Giovanni Lo Celso to the yellow submarine.
However, they could face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United, both also reportedly interested in the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, Gvardiol may be more difficult, having previously expressed his desire to remain at Leipzig this summer, and the German club under no pressure to sell their assets this transfer window.
It may force Tottenham to look outside the box for another addition this summer.
