Liverpool star Naby Keita has grabbed the headlines on Thursday evening, owing to his latest endeavours on the international front.
Keita led his country back into action a short time ago.
After slipping to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Egypt in their opening Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the weekend, Guinea played host to Malawi, eyeing a swift return to winning ways.
And, when all was said and done at the Stade Général Lansana Conté, get their efforts to book a spot at next year’s AFCON back on track is precisely what the evening’s hosts managed.
A hard-fought 90 minutes was ultimately decided by a solitary goal, courtesy of the aforementioned Keita.
As proceedings rolled into injury time, and with the scoreline locked at 0-0, Liverpool’s midfield star picked up the ball just inside Malawi’s half.
From here, Keita drove towards goal, picking out a teammate on the edge of the area before being slipped in, 18 yards from goal.
And the 27-year-old made no mistake with his ensuing finish, rifling an unstoppable effort into the roof of the net, sparking chaotic celebrations amongst Guinea’s fans and players alike.
