Erik ten Hag has laid down the law to the Manchester United first-team via email, according to reports.
The Dutchman took the reins at Old Trafford last month and faces the inenviable tasking of whipping an ego-filled, arrogant Manchester United side into shape.
A number of players have already left United on free transfers this summer, but the squad was a complete mess at the back end of 2021/22, filled with infighting and constant leaks to the press.
The future of several players, such as Anthony Martial – who has just returned from an unsuccessful loan spell with Sevilla – and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, remains up in the air.
Now, according to reports stemming from the Sun, Erik ten Hag has reportedly laid down the law to his players with an email outlining what he is expecting from them under his leadership.
A source is quoted as saying: “The new gaffer sent the first-team players an email, telling them that football is a team game and no individual is more important than any other.
“His emphasis is all on the team — despite United possessing world class stars. He wants the players to train at a higher intensity so that each session is like a game.
“The players have been told that their fitness levels will be the best they have ever been and that if they stick with him and back him, they will be fine.
“If not, they will be out the door. They will be drilled and drilled until they get it right. And if they can’t he’ll replace them with some of the promising youngsters.”
