Details of Liverpool’s move for Benfica and Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez have emerged on Sunday.
Nunez has been attracting a fair bit of attention over the last several months and it is easy to see why.
The Uruguayan had a solid 2020/21 which saw him score 12 and assist 13 in 43 outings across all competitions. It is this past season, though, where he has really come into his own.
Nunez netted 26 and assisted four in 28 league games for Benfica whilst also finding the net on six occasions in the Champions League.
Now, it looks as though Liverpool are close to finalising a deal for the hitman.
As per The Times, Liverpool will pay an initial £64m for the striker, with an extra £12.8m payable after a certain number of appearances and then another £8.5m payable in success-related add-ons – totalling just over £85m.

It is added that Nunez is in Madrid and Liverpool are preparing for medical tests to start tomorrow (Monday).
The Times go on to detail how Jurgen Klopp and Virgil van Dijk played important roles in persuading Nunez to join.
Nunez is said to consider Klopp as “the best coach in the world”, and Van Dijk was so impressed with the striker after their encounters in the Champions League that he named the 22-year-old alongside Sergio Agüero, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland as one of the most difficult strikers he had played against.
