Arsenal have made a bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports.
Osimhen is currently plying his trade in Serie A with Napoli, where he has scored 28 and assisted nine in 62 outings to date.
18 of those goals came in 32 outings across all competitions this past term – a solid record and one much better than any of Arsenal’s current striker options.
As a result, it was not too surprising to see the Nigerian linked with the Gunners over the last few weeks.
Now, as per reports stemming from Italy, Arsenal have made an opening bid of around £51.2m for Victor Osimhen.
It is claimed that Napoli immediately rejected the offer as they hold out for nearly double that amount.
This backs up previous reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, who stated that any potential suitor will need to offer around €100m to land Osimhen:
.@DiMarzio: ”Any offer for Osimhen must be exceptional, around €100M. And so far Arsenal and Bayern haven’t reached €85/90, it will be necessary to see if an offer will come from these clubs that will make Napoli stagger. Broja is a potential replacement” [Via @Napoli_Report]

And whilst €100m does seem like a lot, it is easy to see why Napoli may believe they should get that much for Osimhen in the current market.
Liverpool have just agreed a very similar sum with Benfica for Darwin Nunez after he had one good season in Portugal and put in a few decent displays in the Champions League.
