Dusan Vlahovic has spoken out about the transfer interest he has received from Arsenal.
The 2022 winter transfer window was dominated by Arsenal’s interest in Dusan Vlahovic.
The Gunners quite clearly needed a striker and they had their hearts set upon Fiorentina sensation, Vlahovic.
However, much like with Manuel Locatelli in the previous summer, Juventus swopped in and landed the hitman over Arsenal.
Vlahovic has since endured a mixed stint in Turin, netting nine and assisting two in 21 games. However, that total is still higher than any of Arsenal’s strikers managed in league competitions last term.
Now, as mentioned above, Vlahovic has been quizzed on Arsenal’s transfer interest, but claims he never spoke to anyone from the north London outfit:
“Maybe my agent knows [about Arsenal’s offer] but I never talked to anyone about it,” Vlahovic said.
“I just had one club in my mind because Juventus is Juventus. There is nothing else to say. And now I feel honoured to be given this jersey. It’s incredible every time I put it on.
“I definitely identify with their DNA. The Juventus personality coincides with my personality. When you come here you never give up, you fight all the time, you make the sacrifices. This was definitely what I was looking for.”
Arsenal still need a striker
Six months after missing out on Vlahovic, Arsenal are still in desperate need of a striker.
Eddie Nketiah and Florian Balogun are the Gunners’ only current options in that spot now Alexandre Lacazette has left for free.
And whilst a whole host of names have been linked, Arsenal do not appear to be making much progress on the striker front.
