An up-and-coming defender on the books of Premier League outfit Arsenal has, on Monday, sealed a temporary departure from the club.
The player in question? Omar Rekik.
For those not aware, 20-year-old Rekik, brother of Sevilla star and one-time Dutch international Karim, has long been regarded as something of a star in the making.
The stopper, already a fully-established Tunisian international, made the move to north London in January of 2021, following a spell in Germany with Hertha Berlin.
And though he is yet to be afforded a senior Arsenal bow, amid competition for places at the heart of Mikel Arteta’s backline, Rekik acted as a regular feature for the Gunners at U23 level this past season.

Evidently, though, those in a position of power at the Emirates feel as though their up-and-coming defender has reached a point in his fledgling career is a must.
In turn, with as much set to prove altogether difficult to come by at his parent club owing to both the imminent return of William Saliba, and potential signing of Lisandro Martinez, it should come as little surprise to hear of Rekik, on Monday, securing an Arsenal departure.
As per a statement on the club’s official website, the 20-year-old has made the move back to the Netherlands, having previously spent time on the books of PSV Eindhoven.
This time round, Rekik has linked up with Eredivisie outfit Sparta Rotterdam, as part of a loan deal through the summer of 2023.
