Word stemming from the Brazilian media on Sunday evening points towards Fulham closing on a surprise deal for a member of the Manchester United loan army.
The player in question? Andreas Pereira.
Midfielder Pereira, of course, is currently in the midst of another temporary spell away from Old Trafford.
After failing to make the grade in Serie A with Lazio in 2020/21, the Brazilian sealed a fresh departure last summer, linking up with heavyweights Flamengo in his home country of Brazil.
Pereira’s terms in Rio de Janeiro, though, are due to come to a conclusion at the end of the month.
In turn, amid suggestions that Flamengo have come to the decision not to take up their option to make the 26-year-old’s arrival permanent, Pereira’s future has been thrown back up in the air once more.
And, as alluded to above, if the latest word in the media on Sunday night is anything to go by, then this could well open the door for one of Manchester United’s Premier League rivals to step in.
As per a report from Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, newly-promoted Fulham are not only expressing an interest in Pereir’s signature, but have gone as far as to table an opening offer for his services.
The proposal in question is understood to be made up of €10 million up front, followed by a further 3 million in bonuses.
The transfer team at Old Trafford, for their part, are satisfied with such terms, giving rise to a ‘principle agreement’ between the two parties.
Fulham, though, must now open discussions with Pereira himself, in a bid to convince the once so highly-regarded midfield talent of a move to Craven Cottage.
