Liverpool have repeatedly been linked with the FC Porto winger Otavio, with reports last week suggesting the Portuguese outfit were expecting Liverpool to rekindle their interest and even claiming talks between the two sides had already been held.
However, as per the Liverpool Echo, that is not the case. It is added that Anfield sources have distanced the Reds from such speculation and the links have been dismissed as ‘entirely fabricated’ with it understood that Liverpool have zero interest in Otavio, who has never been a target of the Reds.
Who is Otavio?
Otavio, 27, joined FC Porto in September of 2014, departing Brazilian outfit Internacional for a reported fee of £2.25m.
However, Otavio was then loaned out to fellow Portuguese side, Vitoria Guimaraes SC.
After a decent loan spell with Vitoria, which saw him score seven and assist nine in 38 outings, Otavio then returned to Porto where he has since become a fairly regular feature.
All told, the Brazilian has notched 237 appearances across all competitions for Porto. In said ties the attacking midfielder has scored 24 and assisted 62.
49 of those outings came in the 2021/22 campaign, with Otavio managing to earn five goals and 14 assists for Porto.
Dembele offer
Elsewhere on the Liverpool front, according to Spanish news outlet Sport, the Reds are one of five clubs to make an offer to sign Ousmane Dembele as a free agent.
The Frenchman is out of contract with Barcelona at the end of this month and all of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have reportedly made an offer to sign him, whilst Barcelona are also thought to be hopeful of holding onto the forward.
