A Met Police officer has been charged with offences including intentional strangulation.
PC Thomas Andrews was remanded in custody by Westminster magistrates and is due to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on 8 August after being arrested on Saturday.
He faces charges of causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage and three counts of intentional strangulation.
it follows an incident at about 1am on Saturday in Brockley Rise, southeast London.
Patrolling officers were alerted by a member of the public and spoke to a man, later identified as PC Andrews, the Met Police said.
A woman at the location, who was known to the man, reported the she had been assaulted and her phone damaged.
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed, and PC Andrews has been suspended from duty, the Met said.
