Atletico Madrid are showing an interest in wantaway Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports.
Ronaldo, one year on from re-joining the Red Devils, appears to be eyeing an exit for the second time in his career.
Unlike the first time Ronaldo left United though, and had the pick of the sides, the 37-year-old is now finding it hard to garner any suitors at all.
It was reported by the Evening Standard that Chelsea were offered the Man United striker by his agent Jorge Mendes but Thomas Tuchel is said to be lukewarm on the prospect of signing an older attacker.
Then, according to ESPN, Ronaldo was offered to Paris Saint-Germain by his agent Jorge Mendes, but the French champions rejected the possibility of signing the Manchester United forward this summer.
Now, a fresh report from ESPN claims that the latest club to show an interest is Atletico Madrid.
However, the report adds that it is unlikely the Spanish club will make a move for the 37-year-old as it stands.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are remaining firm on their stance and are unwilling to entertain any offers for Ronaldo to leave the club.
This leaves Ronaldo, and Manchester United, in a pretty tough spot. CR7 clearly doesn’t want to remain at Old Trafford whilst, even if the club want to keep him, it is obvious he does not fit Erik ten Hag’s style of play and his presence for another year could hamper United’s development as a club under the Dutchman.
On the other hand, United also do not appear to have any striking options lined up this summer, which is perhaps why they are keen to maintain Ronaldo’s services for another year.
