A body has been pulled from the River Thames after a search for a man who disappeared under the water, police have said.
Emergency services were called to a stretch of the waterway near a sailing club in Shepperton, Surrey, on Thursday evening.

Members of the public had reported a man had gone underwater near Desborough Sailing Club, but failed to resurface.
“Sadly, a man’s body was recovered from the river in the early hours of this morning. His next of kin are aware and are being supported by specially trained officers,” Surrey Police said.
Firefighters, paramedics and a dive team first responded to calls at around 8pm.
“Our thoughts are with this person’s loved ones at this difficult time,” Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said.

The fire service has urged people not to jump into unknown water, saying it can be colder, shallower and faster flowing than it appears.
During the heatwave last month, at least 13 people died from drowning, including a 16-year-old boy.
