Thank you to a Good Samaritan. Last week, I started school shopping for our church and I picked up school supplies on sale at Walmart. As I was waiting in the checkout line a man with a little girl looked in my shopping cart and asked me if I was a teacher. I said, “No, I’m from St. James Church in Old Town and our church collects donations to give school supplies to a nearby elementary school for the children in need.”
After my charges were totaled up and I started to put my charge card in the machine, the man nudged my hand away and inserted his charge card. I looked at him and he said, “Let me do this.” I was dumbfounded as was the checkout person. I’m sorry that I didn’t get his name, but I thanked him over and over again and explained to him our mission and where our church is located. I went to my car thinking what a nice world this is.
Again — thank you to this kind and generous person.
