A man has been accused of firing a gun at a West Forks boxer while attempting to steal a car outside a general store.
Edward Baker, 28, was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, aggravated criminal mischief, reckless conduct, burglary of a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct and discharge of a firearm near a dwelling, according to the Waterville Morning Sentinel.
Baker allegedly was attempting to steal a car outside Berry’s General Store in West Forks about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when he turned on the car’s stereo, awakening the owners inside, the Sentinel reported.
The store’s owners, 34-year-old boxer Brandon Berry and his wife, 35-year-old Jillian Berry, came outside to find Baker allegedly in the car. He allegedly fired a handgun kept in the car at them through the windshield, according to the newspaper.
The Berrys and a neighbor subdued Baker until Somerset County sheriff’s deputies arrived.
Baker was arrested and taken to the Somerset County Jail in East Madison, where he was being held on $25,000 bail. He was expected to appear in court in the coming days, the Sentinel reported.
