The Dogfish Bar & Grille, a popular Portland restaurant and music venue, said it will be closing until further notice starting Friday.
The restaurant’s owners announced the closure on Facebook, citing “roadblocks” in their way.
“This was not an easy decision and there have been ‘roadblocks’ in our way, but there is always hope that we will reopen again and if we do, we will welcome everyone. Arms wide open. Ready to serve the wonderful people of Portland, our family, always and forever,” The Dogfish Bar & Grille wrote in a Facebook post.
The restaurant is on Free Street, which is a construction zone. In August, The Dogfish Bar & Grille owner Ted Arcand told CBS 13 the road closures have hurt the business’ bottom line.
“I think any restaurateur would tell you it’s been hard finding help and stuff, that’s really why we haven’t gone back to the hours we were at pre-pandemic. The construction up here, obviously if you cut off the top of a street, it’s going to affect the business in some way, shape. or form. So yeah, I think it has affected us a little more than other restaurateurs,” Arcand said in August.
The Dogfish Bar & Grille has been in business for more than 20 years. The popular bar was known for its open mic and trivia nights as well as offering live music.
It will host its last open mic night on Wednesday, last trivia night on Thursday and a closing party will be held Friday with live music by Travis James Humphrey.
