Three people have been arrested after two pedestrians were killed in separate crashes this weekend.
The incidents are not connected but happened within hours of each other.
A Southampton motorist was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving after a woman in her 50s was killed when she was struck by a BMW late on Saturday night.
After hitting the woman, the BMW then crashed with a parked black Ford Fiesta before driving into a nearby building.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin has been informed.
The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving a motor vehicle with alcohol above the limit, driving while unfit through drink, and driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs.
A Hampshire Police spokesman said: “A grey BMW was travelling along West End High Street, heading westbound, when it collided with a pedestrian on the pavement at the junction with Lower New Road.

“The BMW then collided with a parked black Ford Fiesta, which then collided with a nearby building.”
Inspector Andy Tester said: “Our thoughts are with the woman who has died and her family at this difficult time.”
Bristol hit-and-run
In a separate incident in Bristol, two people have been arrested after a pedestrian in his 50s was killed in a hit-and-run.
Avon and Somerset Police said the crash happened in Antona Drive, Shirehampton, at about 1am on Sunday, and are appealing for witnesses.
The man died at the scene.
A woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop following a road traffic collision.
Inspector Tom Fitzpatrick said: “We are specifically appealing for a witness who is seen on CCTV crossing the road after the collision.
“We believe they have information which could aid our investigation into the incident.”
