Bleed control kits have been given to nightclubs across Birmingham following the fatal stabbing of footballer Cody Fisher.
The 23-year-old was on a night out with friends on Boxing Day when he was attacked and died on the dancefloor of the Crane Nightclub in Digbeth.
Emergency services were called at around 11.45pm but could not save Mr Fisher, who played for Stratford Town FC.
His family told Sky News they were “broken” by their loss, with Mr Fisher’s mother, Tracey, describing how she was handed a “life sentence” on the day he died.
Now bleed control kits which could prevent people from losing too much blood while waiting for paramedics to arrive, including tourniquets, bandages and gels, are being distributed across the city.

The kits were donated by The Daniel Baird Foundation, a charity set up by Lynne Baird after her son, Daniel Baird was stabbed to death in Digbeth in July 2017.
Mrs Baird said the foundation is hoping to give out more kits in the future through further fundraising efforts.

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Foster, said: “These lifesaving kits are a simple but clever idea that provide users with the equipment and instructions to save a life.
“Having these kits at venues across the West Midlands can save lives. No one should ever have to lose a loved one to knife crime.
“When someone is stabbed, getting treatment to stop the bleed as quickly as possible is essential. These kits help to control the bleed and buy time for an ambulance and expert medical help to arrive.”
A total of 15 kits have been placed so far at venues including The Mill, Birmingham Mama Rouxs, the Mockingbird Cinema, The Rainbow, Birmingham Luna Springs and Zumhof Biergarten.
They were distributed by West Midlands Police with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service, fire service staff, local business representatives and charity volunteers on Tuesday.
Two men have been charged with Mr Fisher’s murder.
Kami Carpenter, 21, and Remy Gordon, 22 are due to stand trial in July.
