She couldn’t help falling in love with them. Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, adored her four children and frequently shared sweet photos with them before her death in January 2023.
The “Lights Out” singer, who died at age 54 after being rushed to the hospital for cardiac arrest, became a mom for the first time in 1989 when welcoming daughter Riley with then-husband Danny Keough. Three years later, the couple — who divorced in 1994 — welcomed son Benjamin, who died by suicide in July 2020. He was 27 years old.
“My beautiful beautiful angel, I worshipped the ground you walked on, on this earth and now in Heaven. My heart and soul went with you,” the singer-songwriter wrote via Instagram in October 2020 as a tribute to her late son on what would have been his 28th birthday. “The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day. I will never be the same. Please wait for me my love, and hold my hand while I stay to continue to protect and raise your little sisters and to be here for Riley. I know you would want that. Happy Birthday my sweet sweet Boy. You were much too good for this world. .”
In one of her final Instagram posts before her death, Lisa Marie honored Benjamin by sharing a photo of their matching foot tattoos.
“Several years ago, on Mother’s Day, my son and I got these matching tattoos on our feet,” the Tennessee native captioned the image in July 2022. “It’s a Celtic eternity knot. Symbolizing that we will be connected eternally. We carefully picked it to represent our eternal love and our eternal bond. .”
In 2008, after two failed marriages to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage, respectively — Lisa Marie became a mom of four when she welcomed twin daughters Harper and Finley with her fourth husband, Michael Lockwood. She and Lockwood divorced in 2021, and the guitarist had custody of their daughters at the time of Lisa Marie’s death.
“Michael had been hoping for a speedy and complete recovery because her children needed her,” the guitarist’s attorney, Joe Yanny, said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight in the wake of the “Idiot” artist’s passing. “It is very sad it didn’t turn out that way. Michael’s world has been turned on its ear. He is with both of his daughters now.”
While celebrating her 53rd birthday in February 2021, Lisa Marie posed with her three daughters and gave them a sweet shout-out via Instagram. “Like everyday, I couldn’t have made it through without these three by my side,” she wrote at the time.
