A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a teenager in Edinburgh.
Lewis McCartney, 18, was found seriously injured in the city’s Viewcraig Street at around 3.45am on Sunday.
He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but died a short time later.
Bailey Dowling was later arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
The 19-year-old made no plea to the murder charge when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Dowling, of London, has also been accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice and having an offensive weapon in public without lawful authority or a reasonable excuse.
The accused was remanded in custody and is expected back in court within the next week.
Following Mr McCartney’s death, Detective Inspector George Calder, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Lewis’s family and friends. They’ve asked their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.
“I would like to thank the public for their assistance with our investigations.”
