SANFORD, Maine — The Sanford Police Department says it has identified the partial remains found during the construction of a gas station in 2017.
Police say the remains are those of 24-year-old Edith Patten, who was born in 1867 and died in 1891.
Pieces of a Victorian-era casket were found with Patten’s remains.
Police say Woodlawn Cemetery had previously existed in the area until 1931.
No foul play is suspected. Police think the body was overlooked when other graves were moved to Oakdale Cemetery.
