Her two guys! Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos attended the 2023 Oscars alongside Ryan Seacrest ahead of his upcoming Live exit.
The trio walked the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 12, and stopped to catch up with Vanessa Hudgens about Seacrest, 48, leaving the ABC morning show.
“It’s bittersweet. We have such a great relationship and friendship and working relationship,” the American Idol host confessed during the ABC Countdown to the Oscars preshow. “And Mark is gonna take over and he and I have the same kind of relationship, so it’s gonna be an exciting last few weeks. A lot to come.”
Ripa, 52, noted that “nothing will really change” for the trio but she joked that Seacrest would now be able to “have his coffee later.” The Riverdale alum, for his part, could not contain his enthusiasm to join the morning show alongside his wife.
“I am so excited. I start the show on April 17, which is a Monday,” Consuelos, 51, gushed. “I couldn’t be more honored and excited.”
Us Weekly confirmed in February that Seacrest was officially departing Live after hosting alongside the Hope & Faith star for six years. He also announced that Ripa’s husband would be taking over for him. Ripa, for her part, has been a staple on the talk show since 2001 and has hosted alongside several cohosts, including the late Regis Philbin.
“Working alongside Kelly over the past six years has been a dream job and one of the highlights of my career. She has been an amazing partner, friend, and confidant, and although we will always be a part of each other’s lives, I will miss our mornings together,” Seacrest said in a statement at the time. “I also want to thank Michael Gelman and the entire staff and crew – we’ve made memories to last a lifetime, met some of the most incredible people and had the warmest welcome into the homes of so many viewers across America. It’s been a memorable ride and now I’m excited to pass the baton to Kelly’s ‘real’ husband, Mark.”
Ripa and Consuelos fell in love while working on All My Children in the 90s. The soap stars tied the knot in 1996 and share three children: Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 20. In February, Ripa exclusively told Us that she was thrilled to have her husband permanently join her on Live.
“Mark and I owe everything we have in our professional lives to ABC. We met there at the beginning of our careers and got married and had our kids while there,” she said to Us. “So many wonderful moments have happened while with ABC, so it only makes sense for us to come full circle and work together once again for the show that has given us so much joy and so many years of memories.”
