Laying the smackdown on life! Charlotte Flair exclusively took Us Weekly along for her daily routine as a WWE superstar.
Flair, 36, starts her day the best way she knows how: a couple’s sweat sesh with husband Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza. The pair, who got engaged in January 2020, tied the knot two years later in a romantic ceremony in Mexico — and have been working out together ever since.
“He helps keep me in the best shape of my life!” Flair says of Oropeza, 33, who is a fitness trainer and Mexican pro wrestler.
After 90 minutes in the gym, the North Carolina native makes sure to replenish and refuel before a long day ahead. “I stay hydrated with a gallon of water,” she explains, adding, “And then make breakfast.”
Next, she’s either getting ready for a match or preparing for Zoom interviews and meetings, in which she promotes “televised and non-televised [WWE] events” and gives her “take on story lines.”
While Flair refers to “being a spokesperson for the SmackDown’s women’s division” as a “full-time job,” she didn’t always see wrestling in her future. Despite being the daughter of wrestling icon Ric Flair, Charlotte grew up as a volleyball player and gymnast.
After attending an event with her dad, however, the North Carolina State University alum decided she wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps. Today, she’s a 14-time Women’s World Champion.
While being WWE royalty is a dream, it’s anything but easy. “It’s no secret WWE Superstars live out of suitcases and in hotels,” she tells Us. “I’m currently on the road [over] 275 days a year with no off-season.”
Early bedtimes are also out of the question. “Bedtime for me is usually 3 a.m.,” Charlotte shares. “[But] no matter how tired I am, I always wash my face.”
WWE Friday Night SmackDown airs on Fox Fridays at 8 p.m. ET.
