Malti takes Mumbai! Priyanka Chopra Jonas and husband Nick Jonas took their daughter, Malti Marie, to visit her mother’s homeland for the first time.
“MM’s first trip to India had to be completed with Shree Siddhivinayak’s blessings ,” the Citadel star, 40, captioned a Thursday, April 6, Instagram carousel with her baby girl, 15 months, at the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai.
Chopra Jonas and the Jonas Brothers crooner, 30, arrived in India’s commercial hub late last month to attend the star-studded grand opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. Malti, who was born via surrogate in 2022, was photographed in the arms of her proud parents upon their airport arrival.
The little one ultimately stayed at the hotel when the Quantico alum and Jonas had a red carpet date night at the NMACC gala on Saturday, April 1.
“I was so moved to watch the debut of the musical Civilization to Nation last night at the launch of @nmacc.india. May have shed a few tears of pride,” Chopra Jonas, who hails from India, gushed via Instagram several hours later. “The history of our nation is so awe-inspiring. I’m so proud of u #NitaAmbani for your tireless contribution and commitment to the arts and my darling @_iiishmagish congratulations! No one does it like you. Continue shining always. I’d implore everyone to try and catch the show in this incredible one-of-a-kind cultural center.”
While the “Waffle House” singer looked dapper in a navy suit, Chopra Jonas collaborated with designer Amit Aggarwal to create an “upcycled vintage look with a modern twist.”
“My outfit was an amalgamation of the east and the west! Like me,” she quipped of her gown via Instagram at the time. “Thank you @amitaggarwalofficial for coming through and creating this handcrafted beauty with a story that is so apt for an evening celebrating Indian art and Fashion. This beautiful outfit was created using a 65-year-old vintage Banarasi patola (brocade) saree with silver threads and a gold electroplating on khadi silk. It is paired with a sequins sheet holographic bustier to reflect the nine colors of ikat weave that the brocade is set in.”
The Camp Rock star and the Unfinished author, who wed in December 2018, announced in January 2022 that they secretly welcomed their first child via gestational carrier. After spending more than 100 days in the NICU, Malti was able to head home with her parents.
“I was raised by a working mother and father and you just kind of [juggle everything]. You rely on the community around you,” Chopra Jonas exclusively told Us Weekly in March. “I was raised by my grandmom, my grandparents when my mom and dad would be at work. And we do the same [for Malti]. My mom’s around, Nick’s parents come in when we have to travel. Both of us have to travel, but you kind of make it work. It takes a village and she’s the greatest gift of our lives.”
