Lucky in love! Lukas Gage and Chris Appleton‘s romance made headlines months before they revealed they were an item.
The White Lotus star and Appleton first sparked dating speculation in February 2023 when they shared vacation pics together at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort in Mexico. While neither Gage nor the hair guru addressed their relationship status at the time, they exchanged a series of flirty Instagram comments.
“Buenas,” Gage wrote before his now-beau replied, “Stud.”
One month later, the celebrity hairstylist confirmed their romance.
“I’m very happy [and] very much in love,” Appleton gushed during a March 2023 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. “I feel very grateful to be able to share my time with someone very special. Love is a really special thing and, I think, meeting someone that you connect with is very special.”
After a photo of the pair flashed on the TV screen, the Color Wow director added: “That’s Lukas [when we were] in Mexico.”
Several days later, Gage reiterated how he felt about his connection with the England native.
“I feel very happy, very lucky and very much in love,” the Supergirl alum said on the Today show. “He’s a good-looking man. There’s something about being in London. I think I got a taste of the Brits and couldn’t help myself.”
He quipped at the time: “I think this mane needed to be tamed. I also needed to be tamed.”
While neither the You alum nor Appleton revealed how or when a romance began, Us Weekly broke the news in April 2023 that they had gotten engaged.
“They’re not telling the public yet, but they have told friends they are engaged,” a source exclusively told Us. “They got engaged before they even had rings and then went to pick them out together. Friends think they are a great couple. Even though they moved very quickly, everyone around them is very excited about their relationship.”
The twosome reached another milestone later that April when they adopted a new puppy together.
“My new son, Dash,” Gage gushed via Instagram at the time, sharing a selfie with the canine.
Appleton commented that Dash was “a beauty,” before the Moonshot actor jokingly replied, “Our genes.”
Gage had previously remained mum about his personal life even after fans started speculating that he was seeing Appleton.
“If they want to think that, they can,” he told The New York Times in March 2023. “I’m a pretty open book about most things in my life, but I have a problem with the culture of everyone needing to know everybody’s business and nothing can be sacred. It’s a weird line that I’m still trying to figure out.”
