Andy Murray has withdrawn from this year’s French Open to prioritise the grass-court season.
The former Wimbledon champion, 36, has struggled to find his best form in recent weeks, making early exits in all main clay-court events of the season.
Murray has only played at Roland Garros once since 2017 and has never won the tournament.
The French Open starts next week, with 14-time champion Rafael Nadal also announcing days ago that he was pulling out.
Murray is still considering which grass-court tournaments to target, the PA news agency said.
They may include Surbiton, which runs 4-11 June, and then Queen’s from 19-25 June.
Wimbledon is scheduled to start on July 3.

Murray has been trying to to revive his career after major hip surgery in 2018.
He won his first title in nearly four years, beating Tommy Paul in the final of the ATP Challenger event in Aix-en-Provence earlier this month.
But he was beaten in the first round at clay-court events in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome.
This week made another early exit on clay after losing to Stan Wawrinka at an ATP Challenger event in Bordeaux.
