PORTLAND, Maine —- A cold front will bring widespread showers and storms to Maine Wednesday evening.
Showers wrap up tonight, with cool but nice weather for the rest of the work week and dramatic warmup arriving in time for Memorial Day weekend.
Clouds will increase through Wednesday, but there should still be plenty of sun in the morning and early afternoon.
You’ll likely notice very dense smoke in our skies Wednesday.
A cold front arrives this evening, many of us begin seeing showers mid to late afternoon. The bulk of the rain and embedded storms moves through this evening, wrapping up before midnight.
The cold front will also clear out the wildfire smoke. Skies should be a lot less hazy by Thursday.
Thursday will be cool and breezy with highs in the low 60s. skies will be partly cloudy.
Friday looks very similar to Thursday, though likely a bit warmer. We’ll see partly cloudy skies with high temps in the low to mid 60s.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND:
A fabulous forecast ahead for the long weekend. A big pattern shift to high pressure in New England will promote very warm temperatures.
Saturday is the first warm day. Highs will reach the low 70s at the coast, with mid to upper 70s inland. The skies will be sunny.
Sunday looks toasty. Highs will be in the 80s for most of Maine, with temps right around 80 at the coast, though likely dropping for the afternoon as a Seabreeze kicks in. Inland areas will be very warm. Highs will climb into the low to mid-80s.
Memorial Day Monday also looks incredibly warm and sunny. Temperatures will again be in the mid-80s for inland areas during the afternoon, with upper 70s for coastal towns.
Beyond the long weekend, very warm weather looks to continue. More 80s and sunshine next Tuesday.
