I totally agree with the three recent Supreme Court decisions on paying back college loans, the right to sell and upward mobility.
Students who will earn a good living with their college education can pay off their loans without burdening taxpayers. Additionally, as the court found, President Joe Biden and his administration lack legal authority to abolish loan debts without approval by the U.S. Congress. However, student loans should be substantially reduced or eliminated for teachers and others who obligingly serve the public, yet don’t have the salaries of high-wage earners.
In our once great nation, what legal authority dictates who the providers of products or services must sell to? I think business owners have the right to sell or not to sell to anyone for any reason at any time.
Why is upward mobility even necessary? Looking well into the future, we will succeed as a nation when the most qualified students are selected, regardless of race, color, creed or religion.
The foregoing SCOTUS decisions represent much-needed common sense and wisdom.
Theodore Roosevelt said it best: “We believe that this country will not be a permanently good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a reasonably good place for all of us to live in.”
