A Massachusetts man died Monday morning following a crash in Standish.
John Behnke, 80, of Beverly, Massachusetts, was driving a 2014 Nissan Altima on Route 35, also known as Chadbourne Road, about 6:34 a.m. when he suffered a “medical event,” went off the road and struck several trees, according to Capt. Kerry Joyce of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders removed Behnke from the wreck and performed life-saving measures, but Behnke died at the scene, Joyce said Monday afternoon.
His death isn’t believed to have been caused by the crash, which caused only minor damage to the vehicle, Joyce said.
No additional information was released.
