The Maine Community Foundation’s Parsons Family Scholarship for LGBTQ+ and Allies awarded scholarships to three Maine students.
The recipients are Nnenaya Bloomstein of Freedom who will attend Williams College; Sophia Lauritano of Bangor who will attend the University of Maine at Orono; and Joey McGlaughlin of Baring Pit.
The Parsons Family Scholarship provides support for LGBTQ+ graduating seniors and their allies at Maine high schools in pursuit of post-secondary study. Graduating high-school seniors of any gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic are eligible to apply.
This scholarship is inspired by the lives and work of Betsy Parsons and her parents and has been created by their family who staunchly support their ideals and share their deep love for and commitment to Maine and its people.
