A woman has admitted trying to kill three young children who were found with serious stab injuries in West Yorkshire earlier this year.
The 34-year-old was arrested after a four-year-old girl, a boy aged two and a three-month-old boy were discovered with stab wounds at a house in Huddersfield in February.
Speaking at Leeds Crown Court via video link on Friday, the woman pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted murder.
Following a psychiatric evaluation, two experts agreed the defendant “did not suffer with the legal definition of insanity” and was fit to plead, defence barrister Abdul Iqbal KC said.
Mr Iqbal added, however, that both experts agreed the woman was “labouring under mental health problems when she committed these acts”.
It has been recommended that she be sentenced to a hospital order.
The term will be set at a later date when further pre-sentence reports have been prepared, Judge Geoffrey Marson KC told her.
Until then, she has been remanded in custody.
