The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and convictions of those involved in a Portland cold case slaying.
Frank A. Williams, 37, walked into Portland’s Kennedy Park neighborhood in the early morning hours of Aug. 16, 2008, when he got into an altercation with a group of men.
He was chased into the middle of the Fox Street soccer field, where he was stabbed and beaten to death, according to the FBI’s Boston division office.
The Maine medical examiner’s office ruled Williams’ death a homicide, and he left behind two children, the FBI said Wednesday.
Williams’ death is among about a dozen active cold cases in Portland. Now the FBI’s Southern Maine Gang Task Force is offering a reward up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the men involved in Williams’ death, which Portland police Chief Mark Dubois hopes will help bring “closure to the Williams family.”
“We will pursue justice for Mr. Williams and his family, no matter how long it takes, and we hope this reward will incentivize anyone with information to come forward,” said Christopher DiMenna, acting special agent in charge of the FBI’s Boston division.
