A body found in the ocean earlier this week is that of missing lobsterman Tylar Michaud, according to the Portland Press Herald.
The 18-year-old from Steuben went missing on July 21 after he went out to haul and set traps near Petit Manan Island.
Michaud’s mother, Valerie Kennedy, told the Portland Press Herald authorities confirmed to her on Thursday the body belongs to her son. She declined to comment further.
A Jonesport lobsterman found the body in the water near Addison on Monday.
Officials say the body was discovered around seven miles away from where Michaud went missing.
Michaud graduated from Sumner Memorial High School in June. He was going to start taking classes at the Maine Maritime Academy this fall.
