The world-renowned Montverde Academy boys’ basketball team is allegedly coming to Maine.
Cooper and Ace Flagg’s squad is “expected to play two games in Maine this upcoming January,” Samad Hines, recruiting insider and owner of media outlet The Grind Hoops, posted Wednesday morning.
“Get ready Maine, we’re coming home!” Kelly Flagg, mother of Cooper and Ace, posted in response to Hines’ news.
The exact date and location of the games are yet to be announced. Calls to Montverde Academy’s athletics and communications department on Wednesday were not returned.
Newport natives Cooper and Ace transferred to Montverde Academy prior to their sophomore years after leading the Nokomis boys basketball team to its first ever Class A Maine state title in 2021-22.
Cooper Flagg reclassified to the Class of 2024 last month, and is currently ranked by ESPN as the No. 1 boys’ basketball prospect in the country.
He was the first freshman to ever win the Maine Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year award.
