A Maine mother has been arrested for reportedly putting her child at risk after telling him to “be safe” while he was out stealing.
The Oxford Police Department said a group of juveniles from Oxford, Jay and Wilton stole a car before breaking into two stores on Monday and allegedly stealing a BB gun, alcohol and cash.
When one of the juveniles came home, police said, his mother, 38-year-old Becky Steadman, took the money and alcohol.
When Steadman’s son said he was going out to steal more items, she allegedly told him to “be safe.”
Steadman has been charged with putting a child at risk. Police said the juveniles have been charged with theft, breaking and entering, and burglary.
