A man who was injured in an alleged serious assault in Cardiff has died in hospital.
Luke Higgins, 40, was critically injured and taken to the capital’s University Hospital of Wales where he died on Saturday.
South Wales Police said they were called to reports of a serious assault in Hansen Street at around 4.30am on Thursday, 14 September.
His family said they were “devastated by the loss of Luke”, who was “much-loved” and would be “greatly missed”.
David Smith, 43, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm on Friday, prior to Mr Higgins’ death.
South Wales Police’s major investigation team is liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Smith appeared in court on Saturday and has been remanded in custody.

He is next due to appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, 16 October.
