A Maine woman and two Massachusetts men have been charged with drug trafficking following a two-month investigation into trafficking in Mexico and the River Valley region of Maine.
Kellie Bernard, 36, of Mexico, Joel Espinosa, 24 and Isiah Medina, 23, both of Lawrence, Massachusetts, were charged with offenses related to the distribution of fentanyl, cocaine base and methamphetamine.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency began investigating a network of drug traffickers operating in Mexico and the River Valley region of Oxford County after receiving information from concerned citizens, according to the agency.
The drugs were transported from Massachusetts to Maine where they were distributed with the assistance of Bernard, from her residence at 199 Main St. in Mexico.
On Wednesday afternoon, MDEA said agents searched the residence and seized drugs with an estimated street value of $25,000, including more than 224 grams of fentanyl, 53 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, seven grams of cocaine base (crack). Additionally, they seized a firearm and $3,400 in suspected drug proceeds.
Bernard, Espinosa and Medina are being held at Oxford County Jail without bail and are expected to appear in Oxford County District Court on Friday, MDEA said.
